Be careful when communicating on Wi-Fi

With technology evolving, staying connected has become increasingly convenient. However, the risk of someone getting access to your personal details has also grown proportionately. Wi-Fi is a great technology, as it enables us to access the internet anytime and anywhere. Be it at an airport, a restaurant or a shopping mall, we are always connected. However, this easy access also prompts hackers to get into action and they try to steal personal information from you. In the USA alone, there are 68,000 such spots which are highly susceptible to hackers and cyber crime.

These people might be sitting right next to you and as you access your account they might try sneak peak at your system and obtain the desired information so that they can have access to your bank accounts or other important information. In other cases, these hackers might set up a legitimate looking Wi-Fi network that has extremely high signals and as you connect to this network, they have access to all your information, including passwords and other security options. Another thing that could create some hassle is that even as they steal your data, you might be downloading viruses unknowingly.

You cannot always know if the network that you are getting connected to is a fake one. So, it becomes imperative that you take caution. Make sure your security software is secure and try to avoid financial transactions in a public Wi-Fi setup. Set your laptop settings to manual mode so that it doesn’t automatically get connected to any network. Last but not the least, always turn your laptop off when not in use in a pubic Wi-Fi setup.

I agree, a great phone. There is an update to the operating system on this phone. Android 2.1 is available free. I think you need to check with your Network for a download.
