Now, Hitachi has touched a more hybridized approach with the new G-Connect, a device that provides you with both wireless storage and portable Wi-Fi access to tablet and smartphone users.

This new Hitachi product has been designed keeping the nomadic content hoarders in mind. Boasting of a great 500GB storage, this device can support more than 5 different devices on its 802.11n wireless network. Also, keep in mind that when connected via Ethernet, this device can serve as a Wi-Fi access point.

Qualcomm unleashes tri-band WiFi and new mobile wireless chipset

6-1-2011atherostoplogo-1306968054 It is a fact that many people now believe that Qualcomm, San Diego base chip maker, is very busy getting its Snapdragon processor in 250 upcoming devices, but that doesn’t mean that the company has forgotten about its wireless roots. This chip makers has recently announced that its partnership with Wilocity has got a desirable fruit in the form of the AR9004TB Chipset.

Qualcomm is a tri-band wireless setup has added a 60GHz WiGig to the usual 2.4 and 5GHz dual band 802.11n formula for the multi gigabit in-room performance. Although, this new chipset has not been finalized yet, it has been pushed by the WiGig alliance with a hit speed of 5Gbps.

O2 announces free wifi network push

The operator, which had earlier worked with the Cloud to make its broadband network congestion free from iPhone pressure, has huge plans to get into Wifi.

O2 plans to increase its wifi hotspot area and implement a totally free model. The operator also plans to replace its present 450 model of the Cloud hotspot and use network managed by it. Airlines to offer free WiFi this holiday season

google-free-inflight-wifi In a new move to attract fliers, some airlines are offering free WiFi connect for the coming holiday month. Fliers who would like to surf during their flight can now do so in selected airlines that are planning to offer its passengers the free WiFi connection as a holiday gift. The move by the carriers and the Internet providers is aimed at luring fliers to pay for WiFi in their later flights.

The carriers that are involved in this deal include AirTran Airways, Delta Air Lines and Virgin America. On the other hand, Google, with its search engine and the Chrome Internet browser is partnering for the free Internet access called as Gogo Inflight Internet service. The offer starts from January 2nd of the coming year. The service normally gets chargedUS$ 4.95 for WiFi access during short flights and over US$ 49.95 for multiple prepaid in-flight sessions.
