Toshiba, the world’s leading technology company has recently announced that it will foray into the SD card business. These SD cards are Wi-Fi enabled and it is an integration of wireless communication and data storage capabilities. Toshiba has joined hands with a Singapore based company called Trek 2000 to develop these sophisticated wireless cards. By entering into this market, Toshiba has presented a clear threat to the current market leader Eye-Fi.

WiFi iPad sale starts on April 3

To the great delight of the users, the Wi-Fi iPad would hit the stores on April 3 and the preorders would start being taken by the company on March 12. The release was announced by Apple and it also confirmed the availability of the 3G models towards the end of April.

Some of the major countries across the globe like Australia, France, Canada, Spain, Japan, Italy and the UK would see the launch of the Wi-Fi model along with the 3G model. The online store of Apple would take orders for all models; however orders for Wi-Fi models would be accepted only on the Apple Retail Store. Users have until March 12 to make up their mind on whether they want a Wi-Fi or a 3G device.

wifi2 The development of any software to manage the Wi-Fi connection and settings in your Windows has the problem of dealing between two different versions of Windows namely the Windows XP Service Pack 2 and Windows Vista. There is a vast difference between the two versions as the APIs for Wi-Fi network management is different from each other in the two versions.

In case of Windows XP SP2/SP3, the “Wireless Zero Configuration” API performs all the required operations with Wi-Fi connections. Although it is the most widely used version of Windows, there is no guide available to show the way it works. On the other hand the “Native Wi-Fi” API used in case of Windows Vista is much simpler way to mange your Wi-Fi networks. You can also use a part of this API in Windows XP SP2 by downloading the software and installing the patch from Microsoft. Being a developer tool, the Wi-Fi manger simplifies the control of Wi-Fi settings by providing a COM interface for all the available API functions. It specifies the available networks and has functions for connecting or disconnecting and also for working with Wi-Fi network profiles.
