The company undertook an ethical hacking experiment in six different cities in UK. The result of the experiment revealed that over 40, 000 home using Wi-Fi networks lack enough protection. Moreover, a majority of them didn’t even have a password. And these home systems can be hacked within a few seconds, thereby posing great threats.

This is quite a reason to worry because it makes it clear that a large number of homes with wireless network have unknowlingly rendered their boadband connections to probable misuse at the hands of hackers.

As per last year’s estimate by UK ISP TalkTalk, over 7 million homes and businesses were exposed to wifi hijack. And according to the new anti-piracy proposals of the Digital Economy Act 2010 (DEA), almost equal number of homes were at risk of being faultily cut off from the Internet.

In spite of this, most of the people in UK are of the opinion that their wireless network is most secure. A large number of people are unaware of the fact that their systems were used without their knowledge.

The report suggets home users to use Wi-Fi Protected Access 2 (WPA2) method of encryption to secure their network. Moreover, it also suggests to apply a Virtual Private Network (VPN) with the use of firewall and build a secure wireless zone.

All the leading Wi-Fi Security Vendors are now relaxed a bit by bringing products against WPA Crack. The three leading makers of Wi-Fi intrusion protection software designed a software to detect the attack outlined by researchers Eric Tews and Martin Beck.

The newly developed Intrusion-protection software lets network managers to be alerted when they observe a suspicious behavior. It also allows security staff to triangulate a physical location on the network where an attack in originating or exists. It can also be configured to defend a network by simply shutting down the access to it.

AirDefense, AirTight Networks and AirMagnet have all recently announced or acquired some software to detect the WPA Crack. AirTight Networks upgraded its SpectraGuard Enterprise Software, while AirDefense too upgraded its already launched software to detect the WPA attack.
