Isn’t a great news? Amtrak is finally all set to implement free Wi-Fi on some regional trains in the Northeast region. For those of you who don’t know, Amtrak is providing the same service to the Northwest regional trains.

After seeing that the final bet has been laid down by different plane and bus companies in the last few years, Amtrak is extending the Wi-Fi service. It indulged in the conversations between conductors and passengers before agreeing for this new service in northeast regional trains.

This is a great news for commuters who usually spend their mornings and evenings stuck in these slow and old Regional trains. They will be now able to utilize their time in the best way through this Wi-Fi service offered by Amtrak. They will be ready to roll and surf in the train with utmost ease.

This initiative was taken to connect your 3DS to The Cloud with ease.

This is a good news for those who are residing in the UK, as all these hotspots have been opened in the UK. According to a report from International Business Times, this service has been backed up by BSkyB-controlled The Cloud.

This service is meant to bring users access to all the console’s usual online features. It will also be handy when in-game DLC becomes available later this year. This service also intends to add a little purchase incentive to the DS’underwhelming successor and also aims to boost the gaming giant’s own declining earnings.

The operator, which had earlier worked with the Cloud to make its broadband network congestion free from iPhone pressure, has huge plans to get into Wifi.

O2 plans to increase its wifi hotspot area and implement a totally free model. The operator also plans to replace its present 450 model of the Cloud hotspot and use network managed by it. O2 wants to double the number of its finest hotspots by 2013 from the ones that they are presently offering through BT Openzone and The Cloud.

With this, O2 will make the wifi network free to all rather than just to the O2 customers. For this, the customers will have to sign up with O2 and offer their mobile number. This will initiate a dialogue between O2 and the wifi customer, which will even give the customer a chance to change operator and come to O2.

O2 is actually aiming at supporting the wifi network through good content and advertising. In the process, the operator makes much effort to be able to control the network of the user and provide them with O2’s better experience.

Fliers who would like to surf during their flight can now do so in selected airlines that are planning to offer its passengers the free WiFi connection as a holiday gift. The move by the carriers and the Internet providers is aimed at luring fliers to pay for WiFi in their later flights.

The carriers that are involved in this deal include AirTran Airways, Delta Air Lines and Virgin America. On the other hand, Google, with its search engine and the Chrome Internet browser is partnering for the free Internet access called as Gogo Inflight Internet service. The offer starts from January 2nd of the coming year. The service normally gets chargedUS$ 4.95 for WiFi access during short flights and over US$ 49.95 for multiple prepaid in-flight sessions.

This offer was made by many other airlines earlier and have succeeded in their attempt.Similarly, this time as well, the airlines expect to see an increase in the number of WiFi users after the initial free period.

More and more airlines are adding the WiFi feature in their flights these days. Now it is all up to the fliers to see if they are interested in paying the amount charged by the airlines. Those who really want this service and are willing to pay for it will of course select flights equipped with WiFi service.

Do you all get bored during a flight? I am sure you all must have thought of getting a Wi-Fi connection during flight to kill time. Here is good news for all of you. Virgin America has joined hands with Google and will be able to provide free inflight Wi-Fi between 10 November 2009 to 15 January 2010.

Earlier SAS and Lufthansa used to provide this facility on board with Boeing Connexion. But they had to cut it down due to closure of Boeing. All that you need is Wi-Fi enabled mobile device or a laptop. A mobile broadband network of ground towers has been built by Gogo Inflight internet which covers the entire sky over United States. The onboard equipment searches for strongest connection and gets connected. Just turn on Wi-Fi on your device and connect to ‘gogoinflight’ signal and you are connected.

What is the best thing about this facility is that the connection is fast as there is no hindrance between towers and inflight equipments. So, if you have to send an urgent email or if you want to chat with your friend, you can do that all during your journey. Now your plane is your flying hotspot as well. Stay connected.

There is hardly anyone who would complain to find a little Wi-Fi around for free. This explains the reason why you see people with their open laptops wandering the streets to get lucky and find a little blip of a signal so that they can access the internet. There are a number of places around the globe where you can get free Wi-Fi. However, to access it, you need to find some public hotspots or use software tools and Wi-Fi firmware. Here are some of the ways which will help you find free Wi-Fi.

The simplest way to start is by identifying public Wi-Fi hotspots which include libraries, McDonald’s, university campus and the airports, as theses places provide free Wi-Fi as a utility. You can also try out free Windows and other mobile Os applications that enhance Wi-Fi scan and seek. Some of these applications include the Lifehacker for Netstumbler, WeFi for Windows, Wi-Fi Finder for iPhone and iStumbler for Mac. WeFi is a feature rich Wi-Fi hotspot locator which identifies new connections and automatically lets you access the best one that suits your needs. It is also available in a desktop version.

The Open Wi-Fi spots also provide a number of options to find Wi-Fi. The Google Maps mashup informs you the places which provide Wi-Fi near your vicinity and also has a list of services for cheap Wi-Fi. You can use your smartphone online to look for web applications that would help you to find a Wi-Fi hotspot. The Ekahu HeatMapper for the Windows version is also very useful when it comes to mapping wireless signal strength
