However, don’t go by the name as this is an extremely handy device. AirStash is a memory card reader and apart from the name the other not so good thing about it is that it is oversized. But again except for these two minor glitches this is a great device.

It is compatible with microSD/SDHC media and SD/SDHC and works just fine when connected through a USB. However, its standout feature comes into play only when it is unplugged. The AirStash is a WiFi memory card that you can use for wireless connectivity to stream content to your iPod touch, iPhone or any other wireless compatible device equipped with a browser.

The company believes that this device will be especially handy for digital photographers who will be able to access their digital content and also for iPhone users who want to add additional capacity to their phones. It uses HTML5 for its browser based interface, thus enabling you to access your media files as well as documents from multiple devices at the same time. It offers a unique flexibility to the users.

Recharging the AirStash is very simple too. You just need to plug it in to a USB port, whereas the Wi-Fi connection can be left unlocked or secured with WPA2 encryption. Once fully charged it gives up a back up of almost 5 hours. It is priced at $99.99. It is definitely very useful as well as an easy-to-use device.

Toshiba, the world’s leading technology company has recently announced that it will foray into the SD card business. These SD cards are Wi-Fi enabled and it is an integration of wireless communication and data storage capabilities. Toshiba has joined hands with a Singapore based company called Trek 2000 to develop these sophisticated wireless cards. By entering into this market, Toshiba has presented a clear threat to the current market leader Eye-Fi.

In this digital age everyone wants to share pictures in a quick and hassle free way. This new card will offer users such enhanced abilities to share photographs. This card has been specially designed to integrate Wi-Fi with digital cameras that come with an SDHC slot. The moment you put the card into the camera it recognizes other cameras that too supports the similar cards and thus, sharing pictures becomes much easier and faster. You can also upload or download photographs from the server wirelessly.

This card is in compliance with the standard of SD memory cards and is compatible with IEEE 802.11b/g. It also features an 8-GB capacity and can transfer both JPEG as well as RAW images. Toshiba and Trek have requested all the major digital camera manufacturers and other stakeholders to participate in the promotion of this new card and also help in determining standard specifications in this space.

It definitely looks like a very good addition to the existing technology and we hope that with the introduction of this card, sharing of photographs becomes even easier. Toshiba hasn’t yet indicated any price line for this card.

It makes this possible by uploading the newly clicked images and videos from your SDHC compatible digital camera to the photo sharing online site of your choice by connecting wirelessly to your Wi-Fi network. It also gives you the luxury to transfer the images and videos to your PC or Mac.

Another striking feature of the Eye-Fi card is that in spite of having a built-in Wi-Fi radio, it still maintains the form of a regular SD card. The card has a USB card reader which makes it very easy to set it up and also has manager software to further enhance its simplicity. The SD card launches by itself in the browser of your Windows PC to get set with your Wi-Fi network. For Mac users, an Eye-Fi account has to be created before you can point out the Wi-Fi network to copy the images to the folders and upload them on your favorite website.

You can then take out the card and click as many pictures and if you are in the range of the Wi-Fi network, the photos would automatically get transferred to the folder and the sharing site. The transfer of the images also does not take very long and by setting up notifications, you can email, SMS or tweet to Facebook when you transfer the images. The amazing card is also available in several other exciting versions.
