Holst Centre and IMEC joined hands in research and came up with wireless 8-channel EEG system. The system will enhance patient’s comfort by facilitating remote monitoring in their daily environment and yielding natural readings. The miniature EEG system can be used for gaming, e-learning and ambulatory monitoring of epileptic patients. It not only comforts the patients but also offer a time and cost effective alternative solution.
The EEG system consists of 8-channel ultra low-power analog readout ASIC controller chips, radio and ASIC on a 47mm x 27mm printed circuit board, 160mAh Li-ion battery and din32 cables. When the EEG system is connected to EEG headsets or EEG monitoring hats or individual electrodes, it starts recording EEG signals. And can you believe it, the receiver will receive the signals if he is sitting 10m away from the entire system.
Not only this, the brain activity can be related to degree of relaxation and the brain signals can be interpreted. The daily life measurements can also be obtained using home monitoring which is not possible in a clinical environment.
