So, finally we have Apple’s latest 3G enabled iPad Wi-Fi. It is undoubtedly Apple’s one of the most awaited products and an upgradation of the previous iPad which was Wi-Fi only. It has been almost a month that I have been using the Wi-Fi only version, so let us see how special this new version is.
On the exterior it doesn’t look much different from the earlier Wi-Fi only version. The control panel is similar and the screen is almost identical. Although it is a little heavier in relation to the Wi-Fi only model, you don’t feel much of a difference in weight. There are two prominent differentiators between the two. The first one is a 4.5 inch plastic strip that covers the top and the second distinct difference is the port for a micro-SIM card.
Even the inside work is pretty similar and the home screen is the same, barring AT&T’s carrier tag and signal receptor bars. Most changes are done to the over all settings. There are quite a few additions to the Wi-Fi only iPad and some of the features are very impressive. One thing that is missing is the power saver mode, which slows down the speed but is battery efficient.
You need to have a Wi-Fi connection and subscribe a 3G plan to access Internet. The service comes with two offers, a 250MB pan and an unlimited plan. Though it has a few limitations but on an average scale it promises to be a pretty good buy!
