Vodafone, one of the largest telecom companies in the world has launched a WiFi device under its own brand and this makes Vodafone the second network in the UK after 3 to do so. This device can be simply called Mobile Wi-Fi.

MiFi is a very small router and runs on battery. It contains a SIM that allows you to connect a number of devices through a local Wi-Fi hotspot. This offers a very affordable as well as simple way of getting devices online. It is especially useful while getting your iPad online as you don’t have to shell out extra money to get a 3G enabled iPad or perhaps buy another data plan which you might very seldom use. The best part about this device is that you have the luxury of using it for various devices.

Other than these features, it has an exceedingly long battery life. You can get almost 4 hours of service by charging it once. It provides a standby time of one hundred hours. Also, it is very convenient when it comes to sharing documents, but only with those who also have a Mobile Wi-Fi. It is very lightweight as well, weighing just 90 grams.

If you spend £25/month you can avail a 5GB data cap plan for 18 months and £15 will get you a 3GB data cap plan. There are other plans too and you can choose one as per your requirement. One must say, it is a very handy device.

Amazon, the leading online retailer has introduced a subsidized rate Kindle into the fast emerging e-reader space in order to prevent new players to enter the market. This market has seen a huge surge since the launch of Kindle last year, as many new devices have been launched since then and that too at very competitive prices.

It was important that Amazon revised the price structure of Kindle in order to retain its leadership position. This latest Wi-Fi Kindle is priced at $US139 and will be up for sale later this month. You can place pre-orders for this device through the online store of Amazon.

This latest device has several features that will prove to a great draw for the users. It is very slim at just one third of an inch, almost thin as a magazine and is extremely lightweight at 10.2 ounces. It is very fast in terms of transferring a book and you don’t even need a PC. With a 3G wireless network you can directly download books to your Kindle. It offers coverage across 100 countries.

The display gives a feel as if you would feel as if you are reading a real book. It enables you to carry your own library with you, as you can store up to 1500 books in it. Other features include a very long battery life, connectivity with social networking sites and a PDF reader. Another very interesting feature is the ‘read to me’ option, where you can hear the content being read to you by the device.

It is incredible how GPS has evolved over the years. The size is shrinking, prices going down and features enhanced. The latest is from Bushnell, which has launched a GPS that is even smaller and the price lower. It was a few years back when Bushnell introduced a small and simple GPS called Backtrack and was priced below $100. It was a simple concept to help people navigate from one place to another.

The latest devices are called the BackTrack Point 3 and BackTrack Point 5 and these two devices offer the same services in trademark simple way but come in much smaller sizes. It is still the same concept of marking a location and navigating your way back. They feature LCD screens for better viewing.

The BackTrack Point 5 offers the option of storing up to 5 locations, including temperature, altitude and time readings. Bushnell claims that this latest device has faster satellite acquisition as compared to the previous version. Sized 3.5 x 2.3 x .88 “, it comes at a price of $100.

On the other hand the BackTrack Point 3 has the option of up to 3 locations. However, it doesn’t come with other features like clock, altitude and temperature. Its size is 3.25 x 2.13 x .75” and is priced at $70. This device makes travelling extremely convenient and hassle free. You just need to mark a position and you would be directed back to it.

There is no doubt that these are very handy device but the fact that they are smaller and cheaper makes them even more appealing.

With Samsungs latest Wi-Fi enables digital camera, Samsung ST80, capturing the special moments of life has become even simpler. There are already a number of such cameras available in the market and in that regards this isn’t anything big. But the features that the ST80 has got, makes it edge the existing ones, even if marginally. The Wi-Fi option makes it a great draw for all those in love with photography.

It is a very sleek camera and has a 3X optical zoom. A 3” wide LCD touch screen makes viewing of the pictures a better experience. It comes with a 14.3MP camera and gives some really crisp and vibrant images. It also has a technology called scene recognition that helps in capturing images quickly, with great and clear pictures. It has the feature of shooting environment identification and it can change the settings automatically according to the environment.

Another very interesting feature is the Smart Crop, which enables the user to crop the images in the device itself. It is very handy as pictures that couldn’t be taken properly due to various factors can be straightened. It also has a video recording with the ability to record HD videos at 30 frames /second.

The Wi-Fi compatibility ensures fast sharing of pictures as well as videos on the go. You can also email pictures to those IDs which have been stored in the address book. The only thing needed is Wi-Fi connectivity. This camera will hit the market in September this year and is priced at $249.99.

Now you can transfer your pictures from your camera to an iPad even if you do not have an iPad kit. All you will need is a Wi-Fi supported camera or a memory card.

The application that makes this possible is called ShutterSnitch. It has been specially created to enable you to transfer your pictures from your camera to an iPad or an iPhone. It transfers the pictures wirelessly from the wireless transmitter of your camera or from your Eye-Fi memory card.

However, as the iPad is incapable of creating its own wireless network, you require a Wi-Fi network that can be accessed by your camera/memory card as well as iPad. Once the transfer is complete you can arrange the photos into albums, FTP images or even e-mail directly from the application. You can also have private albums that can be locked.

Other features include Bonjour support, which enables easy transfer of photos between several devices simultaneously. It also has a feature that enables you to set up visible and audible warnings whenever an image coming in doesn’t match the format or any other rule like aperture, ISO, different shutter speed focal length/level etc. It has been priced at $8 and you need an iPod touch, iPad or iPhone running iOS 3.i or later. We hope that a lot of people will be greatly benefited by this app.

Gone are the days when Internet on the move was only for the rich. With the latest offering from Subaru, even the average man can now have Internet on his/her car. Subaru has announced that its Outback 2011 will be available with an in-built Wi-Fi as dealer installed option. This should come as a great news for many who couldn’t afford swanky cars that had this option.

The connection is over a 3G technology platform and is given by Autonet Mobile. This will enable Wi-Fi access within a 150 feet radius of the car. This facility will cost an additional amount of approximately $550, which is a fairly good deal. The parts will cost $400. Besides, there is an activation fee of $35 and an installation and monthly cost of $29. You need to take a one year subscription as well.

At times, when you opt for Internet on the go, you could have problems of coverage and downloading speed could also be a problem. But, Subaru claims to provide 97% coverage across the US and download speeds vary from 400 Kb/s to 800 Kb/s in areas with 3G. There are two data caps, 1 GB and 5 GB, however there are no extra charges in case these limits are exceeded but the speeds will lower.

It is amazing how the prices have gone down for internet usage. A decade back, a similar service was as expensive as $300,000. It was when Audi unveiled its A8 Megacar. The Subaru Outback 2011 with built in Wi-Fi is definitely a great offer and will be extremely useful as the number of people who need to work on the go is on a huge rise.

So, I guess this phone might bring back the concept of ‘small is big’.

It has 240×320 pixels in 2.55 inches, which makes it a little difficult to surf. The capacitive screen makes scrolling very efficient; although for those who are used to a large screen might find it a little uncomfortable initially but it is a matter of time before you get used to it.

The major drawback in this phone is that it doesn’t support Flash. Another thing that might seem like a problem is that the screen is too small to accommodate a QWERTY keyboard. However, Sony Ericsson has done well to have a separate slide screen for the keyboard.

The camera is pretty handy with a 5 mp lens and auto focus. There is an option for a quick launch and it is very easy to use. Again, the small screen causes some problems as your fingers might stray all over. On the other hand, the sound quality is good as well.
