Wi-Fi and 3G enabled iPad

So, finally we have Apple’s latest 3G enabled iPad Wi-Fi. It is undoubtedly Apple’s one of the most awaited products and an upgradation of the previous iPad which was Wi-Fi only. It has been almost a month that I have been using the Wi-Fi only version, so let us see how special this new version is.

On the exterior it doesn’t look much different from the earlier Wi-Fi only version. The control panel is similar and the screen is almost identical. Although it is a little heavier in relation to the Wi-Fi only model, you don’t feel much of a difference in weight. There are two prominent differentiators between the two. The first one is a 4.5 inch plastic strip that covers the top and the second distinct difference is the port for a micro-SIM card.

Having completed its first specification, WiGig Alliance is all set with tri-band a Wi-Fi router, which is possible as early as 2010. The speed of the WiGig is expected to be supremely fast because of the improvements that have been made during the development of the specification. The speed of 7 Gbits/s makes it almost ten times faster than 802.11n. The frequency of the spectrum used by the WiGig protocol is much faster than ones used in most of the modern current devices.
